چکیده

Review scope Included studies assessed VTE prophylaxis in hospitalized patients with > 50% of the study population ≥ 75 years of age or reported a subgroup analysis for patients ≥ 75 years of age. Exclusion criteria were studies of patients with a single disease, head-tohead comparisons of unfractionated and low-molecular-weight heparin, exclusion of patients > 80 years of age, and not reporting the proportion of patients ≥ 75 years of age. Outcomes were a composite of VTE events as defined by each study (asymptomatic and symptomatic deep venous thrombosis [DVT], pulmonary embolism [PE], or fatal PE; sudden death was included in 1 trial), major and minor bleeding, and all-cause mortality.
